A young man has died and two others have been injured following a head-on collision on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
A Toyota Yaris and a Toyota LandCruiser were travelling in opposite directions on Arthurs Seat Road at about 5pm on Tuesday when they collided.
The 44-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the Landcruiser was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The 23-year-old male driver of the Yaris was flown to hospital in a serious condition under police guard.
His sole passenger, a male aged in his 20s, died at the scene.
The area was cordoned off by police while Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Tuesday’s fatal collision brings the total lives lost on Victoria’s roads this year to 274, compared to 229 at the same time last year.
