While Kim has her share of celebrity fans who always praise her photos and videos, she also has many people in the public who choose not to hold back what they feel — even when it’s negative criticism. Though Kim looks gorgeous in the photos, many people have accused her of looking unrecognizable, trying to be black, and darkening her skin so much it was akin to wearing blackface. Some compared the photos to African-American beauties like Diahann Carroll and Diana Ross. Needless to say, there was plenty of heated debate and discussion in the comment section under Kim’s photo slideshow.

The Kardashians and Jenners are frequently accused of appropriating black culture and many people have publicly accused many of the siblings of trying to be black. When the Kardashians or Jenners cornrow or plait their hair, they are sure to ignite a firestorm of controversy.
