Five Songs We Want 5SOS To Cover Again!

After 5 Seconds of Summer covered “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script at their show in Dublin, and “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol in Belfast, we couldn’t help but think back to their old covers on YouTube that so many of us fell in love with way back then. The days of hemmo1996 with those pink speakers, Luke wearing that same blue tank top, and all four members having such a strong fringe game. Just re-watching those old videos is quite the emotional experience, especially after seeing them play packed stadiums.

But what if 5SOS decided to re-cover some of the songs on their YouTube channel? What if they revisited the songs that either the whole band or Luke alone covered all those years ago, but on their own headlining tour with sold out arenas? Here are some songs that both fans from the start and those who’ve been hooked since “She’s Kinda Hot” are sure to love!

5. “Jasey Rae”, All Time Low

You know a band’s gone far when they’re friends with the artists they used to cover.  It’s definitely something that’ll make you think, “how did we end up here?” We can’t even imagine how good Calum’s parts would sound today.

4. “Jersey”, Mayday Parade

This is such a great song from Mayday Parade’s Jason Lancaster era. With the rest of the boys playing their instruments as well, there’s no doubt that it would sound absolutely amazing live, especially with Ashton’s drumming in it as well!

3. “Check Yes Juliet”, We The Kings

Michael and Luke might have been fooling around a little during this cover, but they’ve definitely improved astronomically since their 360 pixel days. Plus, who wouldn’t also want to hear Michael’s little solo today? We’re definitely checking yes.

2. “Next to You”, Chris Brown ft. Justin Bieber

This was one of the covers that pushed them into the world of YouTube fame. If they were to cover this again (with Ashton, minus the fringes) it would make any longtime 5SOS fan’s day! Tears might also follow.

1. “A Drop in the Ocean”, Ron Pope

Why is Ron Pope so good at pulling at our heartstrings? We may never find out his secret, but one thing’s for certain-having one of our favourite people sing this song isn’t doing much to change that.
