Charlise muttens mother Kallista Mutten charged over break and enter

The mother of schoolgirl Charlise Mutten has been charged as part of an investigation into the nine-year-old’s alleged murder.

But there is no suggestion Kallista Mutten was involved in her daughter’s death.

Charlise was allegedly killed while staying with her mother’s fiance Justin Stein at a multimillion-dollar property in the Blue Mountains in January.

The girl was reported missing before a massive police search found her body stuffed inside a barrel near the Colo River four days later.

Stein, 31, has been charged with her murder.

As a result of investigations into Charlise’s death, police uncovered two firearms and ammunition in bushland near where she disappeared.

Police later charged Stein with aggravated break and enter of a nearby property in late August 2021 following ballistics testing of the weapons.

Police will allege Ms Mutten accompanied Stein on the break in.

There is no suggestion she was involved in her daughter’s death.

“A woman’s been charged over her alleged role in a home invasion that was uncovered as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged murder of a girl in the Blue Mountains earlier this year,” NSW police said in a statement.

“A 39-year-old woman attended Campbelltown Police Station on Tuesday where she was charged with aggravated break and enter in company.”

Charlise was living with her grandparents in Coolangatta and was visiting her mother over the Christmas school holidays before she disappeared.

According to police, Charlise was alone in the care of Stein the night she was allegedly killed. At the time, Ms Mutten was reportedly at a caravan park an hour away.

Ms Mutten is due to face Campbelltown Local Court on August 4.
